Brad Shorr - How to Start Reading Blogs

How to Start Reading BlogsBy Brad Shorr | May 26, 2008 When I speak to small and medium size business audiences on business blogs, there are usually a fair number of people who have never read a business blog. Truth be told, reading blogs is the best way to understand them, and taking a thoughtful survey of the blogosphere is the first step in determining whether a blog is right for your

Donna Fox - Calling All Female Internet Marketers

Calling All Female Internet Marketers Filed Under Social and Political, General Marketing It happened again. I received yet another link to yet another sales page with yet another lineup of all male marketers. This wasn’t the bad part. When I said something about it on a public form (yes, I can be vocal) I received back a response (not from the website owner) that there just aren’t

Very cool, Mike! I don't know a lot about this program, so I am sorry that it took me a while to write back. Great site! I am going to spend sometime on it. I am really loving the background to your SWOM I am going to have to do something like that. I will forward on your information to my business partner who works on a product line for Tilt.

Hi Mike and Marcy, thanks for checking out my blog. It's nice to know I'm not alone far west of DC. I missed the Apple Blossom festival again this year!

I checked out your business site. That is definitely a business for entrepreneurs.

Thanks so much for the great comment. It's nice to hear someone is actually seeing the things I work so hard on. Glad you like our great new colors, spread the word. :)

I have a degree in Management/Accounting from Park University (I hate the slash but that is the official name).

The 1-800-go-away did make me cringe, but honestly, I'm not surprised. The old customer-hostile company I worked at did a similar (but not quite as bad thing). They are a major appliance repair company and so when my water-heater broke I called them first. They wanted me to wait 24-48 hours for a contractor to call me back to schedule an appointment. As an insider I knew that it would be 3-4 days before I even talked to the people and probably a week after that before I actually got a repairman. Instead I hung up and defected to the competition.

Thank you for your comments. I ended up as a accountant in an IT position because I love accounting (I just graduated on Friday with my degree) but somehow ended up in an IT position (supporting software). I feel that word of mouth between businesses can be just as powerful as between consumers and that as an accountant I can build business relationships that make my company pleasurable to work with. I look forward to hearing more from this community.

Mike,

Thanks for your comment. I have a lot of interests, which is why I do so many things. If I never had to work again, the only thing that would go away is mortgages. I'd still do everything else.

Sure, ebooks sell, but they are about a rare kind of jewelry making so the target market is very small. I don't use them to make a living. I sold a couple thousand in the first 4 years. I haven't actively been pursuing sales for the last 4 years. The ebooks are a way for me to claim credit for the style of jewelry work I do and establish that I was there first. That's the bulk of the reason they exist.

I won't spam your page ;)
