Waiting For It To Be Better.

We all have a tendency to looking into the future for that event that's going to "make everything better". We looked to the election,to the bailout, to the inauguration....and we're still waiting.

It was no different when the list was: graduate, get a job,a car,a house.....and we're still waiting.

Discounts.

If you work with a product of service provider that constantly promotes disounts and coupons(domestic car business comes to mind) then perhaps their products or services were not fairly priced to begin with.

If someone tells you they are taking $15,000 off a $45,000 vehicle, maybe it's really a $30,000 vehicle

Not everything needs to be "discounted", just price it what the price should be.

Deconstructing a Business Model.

In our current economic environment you may hear this term. Being in the service end of the automotive business, I'm use to taking taking things apart. What I've found over the years is that the better something is made, the easier it comes apart, gets repaired, and then put back together better than it was. But when running into rusty bolts or frozen parts, things break.

If your having a hard time taking your model apart, it needs more work than you thought.

Ignorance is Bliss

Just saw numbers that spending is up this past weekend, not much, but up never the less. I guess we're too silly to know things are bad.

Or better yet, maybe we're trying to be confident that things are going to turn around and we're not going to live our lives with our heads in the sand and our money under our mattress.

I'll go with the 2nd one.
